  • Vaquero Beach: A sandy shoreline with gentle water, perfect for families. Includes shaded picnic areas, modern restrooms, and scenic vistas.

  • Los Alamos Beach Access: Nestled near the campground, this quieter area lets you relax just steps from the water.

  • Emigrant Landing Coves: Paddleboarders and kayakers will enjoy these calm coves, with hidden beach pockets along the shoreline for private dips and sunbathing.

For those with access to a watercraft, Pyramid Lake rewards exploration with a series of beautiful boat-only picnic and fishing destinations:

  • Spanish Point, Tin Cup, Bear Trap, Yellowbar, and Serrano are scenic day-use areas situated on small peninsulas or islands within the lake.

  • Each area provides a unique view of the lake and is accessible only by boat, adding an adventurous twist to your outing.

Lakeside Camping: Wake Up to Water Views

  • Los Alamos Campground features over 90 campsites equipped with BBQ grills, picnic tables, and trails that lead directly to the lake. Campers enjoy a rustic yet well-maintained experience, ideal for families and nature lovers alike.

Outdoor Activities: A Year-Round Adventure Zone

  • Boating & Jet Skiing: Pyramid Lake offers full-service launches, a marina store, and boat rentals—available daily on a first-come, first-served basis. Motorized and non-motorized watercraft are welcome (launch fee required).

  • Fishing: The lake is regularly stocked with trout, and you’ll also find bass, bluegill, and catfish.

  • Kayaking & Paddleboarding: Quiet inlets and striking cliffs make for unforgettable paddling.

  • Hiking & Wildlife Watching: Keep an eye out for bald eagles, deer, and bighorn sheep along the surrounding trails.

    🔒 Daily Boat Limit: Only 150 private vessels are allowed on the lake per day. This limit fills quickly during peak season—early arrival is strongly recommended.

Boat & Fishing Rentals (First Come, First Served)

  • 14’ Fishing Boat (8HP Motor): $100 full day, 2-hour & hourly options available

  • 16’ Deluxe Boat: $130 full day

  • Pontoon & Ski Boats: Also available seasonally—check website for availability and restrictions

  • Deposit Required: Typically $100 per rental
