Mojave Air & Space Port & Museum
Just northeast of the Frazier-Tejon region, where the mountains give way to open desert, you’ll find one of California’s most unexpected and fascinating destinations: the Mojave Air & Space Port at Rutan Field.

The Mojave Air & Space Port is one of California’s most unique high-desert destinations. Known for aircraft testing, long-term aircraft storage, and aerospace innovation, it’s an interesting stop for anyone exploring the area around Frazier-Tejon.
Right on site, the Mojave Transportation Museum highlights the region’s aviation and spaceflight history, including legendary aircraft, record-setting pilots, and Mojave’s role in private space exploration. The museum also hosts the monthly Plane Crazy Saturday event, where visitors can often see aircraft on display and meet aviation enthusiasts.
For a great meal with runway views, the Voyager Restaurant sits inside the airport grounds and is a popular place to watch planes take off and land while enjoying breakfast or lunch.
